Accommodating the Bulk

(between 7th & 8th Avenues)

The installation is on view from the street from 9a - 7p during the length of the exhibit.

Inspired by the private, yet public space of the American backyard, Julia creates installations and sculptures that address the oddities of obsessive collecting, compulsive making and the absurdity that comes with both. Being thoughtful of the space in which the work is placed, and how the viewer engages with the installation, is central to the overarching ideas of voyeurism and personal narrative that are embedded in the work. By capitalizing on the window space, Julia will create an environment that is part whimsy, part absurd with a line of storytelling. By filling the space to it’s capacity, the installation comments on the excess of objects we fill our daily lives with and how those objects become a reflection of our own self image and the private acts we obsessively repeat.
