Please note that this is an open rehearsal; the full show will run April 19-21, 2016 every evening at 4:30 pm, 5:30 pm, and 6:30 pm.
"A Clean Break, A Fresh Start" is the performance of two contemporary dance pieces choreographed by Robert Mark Burke and performed by his company of 7 dancers and 3 students. The works bring to life the music of Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong, and the Manhattan Transfer; creating a world of love and loss through installation type performances.
About the Artist
Robert Mark Burke is a dancer, choreographer and teaching artist. Robert has shown his work throughout the United States, including at The Wild Project, Dixon Place, Paramount Theater (Boston), Hofstra University, Rutgers University, Rider University, and Dance New Amsterdam. Robert recently servec as assistant ro choreographer Brian Brooks for Julie Taymor's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" at the Polonsky Theater in Brooklyn, NY. Robert has apprenticed with Doug Elkins, and Meagan Woods and Company, and Zella Dance. Robert is on faculty at the Rutgers High School Musical Theatre Academy and has been Guest Teaching Artist at the Atlantic Theatre School (New York, NY), as well as many high school throughout the tri-state area. He graduatedcum laude with a BFA in Dance from Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University in 2013, after which he did a year-long tour with the North American production of "Cats." In 2015, Burke was awarded the Emerging Choreographer's Comission for "Dance on the Lawn" (Montclair, NJ), was selected to present work in the Jersey (New) Moves! at New Jersey Performing Arts Center, and has presented work created through the CoLab-New Brunswick Space Grant.
