About the artist:
Amanda Waal is a performer and designer, with projects ranging from small dances to hotel bars, and is infuenced by the ways in which the sharing of space, the passage of time and the presence of structure filtered through all. A background in ballet and contemporary dance informs her movements, as do her studies and practice of architecture. Raised in a suburb of Los Angeles, Waal studied literature and dance at University of California San Diego and received her Master of Architecture from Parsons' School of Fashion. Waal organizes Assembly, a quarterly salon presenting works of visual artists, dancers, musicians and filmmakers.
