From opportunities at chashama.org Wed Jun 21 11:10:56 2006 From: opportunities at chashama.org (for artist who want to know about new spaces and opportunities) Date: Wed, 21 Jun 2006 14:10:56 -0400 Subject: [Opportunities] call for performances in LIC wednesday evenings starting July 5 or 12th Message-ID: <000a01c6955e$0e0411d0$6401a8c0@VAIO> Please forward performance opportunity for musicians, DJ's, film screenings and choreographers: Harry's at Water Taxi Beach is looking for performances for wednesday evenings starting July 5 or 12th. Harry's is a fully functioning "beach" located on the East River in LONG ISLAND CITY, it's accessible via the Water Taxi and thus has been named Water Taxi Beach. it has 1,000 tons of sand from the jersey shore, a hamburger, hot/tofu dog shack and the best sangria i have had on the East River.... Harry's is looking for performers to help bring people there on wednesday nights in the summer and to establish this incredible little spot as a NYC destination. it is really magnificent with the sun setting over the west side of manhattan and the twinkling lights of the entire east side of manhattan as a back drop. Performers will be provided with as much or as little space as needed and we are negotiating a nominal fee for artists participating (it will most likely be no more than $100, as this event is in the fetal stages) and there is no door charge, so its free... This is a great opportunity to test out new material in a beautiful setting. please visit www.watertaxibeach.com, reply to rachel.fleit at gmail.com -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... We are currently searching for artists and vendors to open up shop immediately. METROPOLITAN FLEA MARKET is held every weekend, in a beautiful 4,000 square foot street level boutique space in an industrial building, which is primarily occupied by artist studios that we also operate. Doors open at 10 a.m. until dusk. Future plans include opening a weekday evening store from 5 to 9 p.m. for night owls. This is not your normal flea market. The concept is flea market with the philosophy to exist as a community showcase to display the unusual, one-of-a-kind handmade objects of desire for direct cash flow to artists. Erase the dealer/pusher man. Find things you are looking for that don't exist in stores. New York galleries are too rarified. Stores are in chains. METROPOLITAN FLEA MARKET facilitates sales by renting out novel retail space for the bargain price of $50 a day or items sold by The House on a commission basis. We are ahead of the herd-we're open to your ideas. METROPOLITAN FLEA MARKET is dedicated to bringing together the best of the arts-interesting eyes and acute sensibilities. We are affiliated with*THIRD WARD, * a unique member-based studio and creative workspace in East Williamsburg, which provides space, facilities and equipment for established and emerging artists to work on their craft in a space-limited city. This message has been brought to you by the directors of METROPOLITAN FLEA MARKET: Niko Koppel, an artist and filmmaker. & Lily Koppel, a painter and writer for The New York Times. *Contact: *METROPOLITAN FLEA MARKET Metropolitan.fleamrkt at gmail.com 617.304.3232 573 Metropolitan Avenue Brooklyn, NY 11211 Metropolitan between Lorimer and Union Streets By Subway: Take the L train to Lorimer or the G train to Metropolitan -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
